Black and White Wednesday "My Muse"

We're just finishing up the last little bits of our renovation (pictures are coming soon, I promise)and I was framing some pictures for the mantle so I went hunting in my archives.

And found a million many that I love and a few more that I'm crazy about.

I can't help it....I just can't get enough of that face.

I mean who could blame me. Right?

Some of these are repeats but new in black and white.

Looking at these makes me itch to get out with my camera and chase both my girlies around.

Thought I'd convert our latest Mother's Day picture (I added just a touch of pink).

Mother's Day - 2010

There are so many mixed feelings that I have about Mother's Day.

For years I would bury my head in the sand and pretend it was just another day. (I'm an expert at denial - a state I find quite under-rated.)

Then finally, in 2004, I could fully rejoice.....I was finally a Mother - I could almost not believe it.

Still, it's a day when many Mothers are grieving for their children who are not with them.

And then, in 2007, I lost my own Mother......on Mother's day (what was she thinking???)

Still, I am grateful for a Mother who gave us everything she could and I am so deeply grateful for this gift.

To be called "Mother"!

Since 2005 we always go for a little visit to my friend Helen's flower shop where we've taken pictures of our girlies every year but this one. We'll do that in a few weeks.

We did go out for our usual dinner - Mom's choice.

Margaritas.......it's a must.

Dahlia has always had a good time at every party we have attended but Milana...

we could hardly hold her back.

They had an absolute ball.

We all had a wonderful time celebrating our dear friends second child. (This is the family we've gone to China with, twice, for all our girls. Pretty special!)

Black and White Wednesday

My friend's Big Fat Greek Wedding Baptism

was on Saturday.

Oh my!

One word.....amazing.

Orchids were the centerpieces on each table.

I love orchids!

They also remind me of little people (along with fiddlehead ferns, if you recall).

What......no fashion sense, you say?

Well......perhaps not.

But if we ever need packhorse - Dahlia sure knows how to load one up.

(And the little one just eats up the attention.)

Black and White Wednesday

Tulips......

.....in the snow?

Huh ??!?

After the tease of a few weeks of glorious weather - warm, sunny with just a sprinkling of rain - the enemy has entered the camp again.

Temps dropped to below zero (that's below 32) and....

.....

it's......

snowing!

And just in time for Black and White Wednesday.

As snow is white and my mood is black.

Hey....I like to match!

Poor little blades of grass, desperately trying to breath.


Boxwoods....without a coat on. I shudder!

But my garden is of tough stock. It will survive (and the forecast is in the 60's tomorrow and sunny). So my sweet tulips might limp and suffer but they will rise to greet a new day.

Ahhh.....one stalwart soldier, daring to laugh at the wind and snow.

Playdate at the Eco-Museum (part 2)

Nothing says spring better than an fiddlehead fern, just coming out of the ground. (Well....tulips would come a close second for me.)

To me, these fiddleheads look like little people - having a good gab together.

I little bit like these people.

This was our playdate gang a few weeks ago 0 before the weather turned gorgeous. Still chilly but we had fun nonetheless. The four kiddies in the strollers are all kids, back from China within less than 9 months.

You may recognize some long-time bloggers here and for a better look........

....yeah....now you know her. It's Doris (3D) with her little Daphne.

(The others are my bud Helen with her Georgia, and sweet Jennifer with her Hannah Faith and standing, her middle daughter Mara-Grace. And then me and my schnookums - Milana.)
