(Mostly) Wordless Wednesday

News Flash - Dahlia loses first tooth!!!
A very big deal to this little girl. Very big indeed!
OrdinaryAndAwesome.com is the Chronicles of My Ordinary and Awesome Life, Family, and Thoughts. OrdinaryAndAwesome.com is the Mostly Wordless Wednesday headquarters as well as the home to several original awards and memes.

Everyday, this little one gives me something to smile about (or a giggle to a full blown belly laugh). This gave me a giggle.

The other day Dahlia crawled into our bed, early in the morning (which I love) and I proceeded to hug her and whispered in her ear "I love you so much, I just want to eat you". Dahlia paused for a moment and in all seriousness said "hmmm.......well...., maybe just a nibble".

:)

Hmm....I just read over what I wrote and thought I should point out that the text above has nothing whatsoever to do with the picture (and the missing tooth). Just in case anyone got any weird ideas. Heh!

Tall Horse - Tiny Person

"Hi there....the name's Dahlia...and, um.....I'm on a horse. And, umm...it's a pretty big horse.
And I'm even waving (ever so demurely) with one hand."
" Oh yes, that's me up here.......all by myself. Yep......just me and
my horse."
"Oooo......what's that over there?"
"Yup...look at me Mom, I'm doin' it !"

"Huh......is it just me, or is the other tiny pony horse - ummm, smaller than mine?
Well, I'm just sayin."

"Gee, I think Mom caught me with my finger in my nose (if you click on the bunch of pictures below you might see it - hehe)"
"OK, I admit I'm feeling kinda proud of myself."

"Mom keeps telling me I'm a terrific kid.
Maybe she's right!"

"And now for some more cute stuff - check out the furry friends we found."

"Mom and Dad took me here to this horse farm with a whole bunch of other families like us. We had hot dogs - yum and they had bunnies and stuff too. We even got to scoop poop (horse) and went on a wagon ride through the meadow and everything. I wish we lived on a farm."

"I wanted to take this one home, but my Mom said no. Zizi wouldn't like that much."

"Are you sure, Mom? I'm using my prettiest eyes"
"Oh look, a baby racoon having his bottle (or bauble as I used to say it). Are you sure we can't have this one, Mom?"

Mom is sure!

A year in the life

.....of Dahlia.
Kindergarten 2008-2009
This is the first day of school (Sept. 2008) and my little girl was pretty terrified. Notice the red eyes. She didn't make a fuss, she knew she had to go so she steeled herself.
My brave little girl!

The mood has done a 360 here - Dahlia skips all the time now. She has become a happy little girl.
And you know what that makes me? Yep, one happy Mommy.

You can see the fear and resolve last September.
And simple joy in June.
Tra la la, la la

Skipping......this kid skips all the time!
My heart skips when I see this.
Putting on a happy. Oh, if I could have taken her place that first day. I just ached for her.

Last day glee.

(ahem.....excuse the shadow....guess who?)

And she's off!

I pray she embraces every new challenge this way!

That's my girl!

Kindergarten Graduation

Well....I guess it's time to get off my happy little cloud and get busy again. Though part of me always lives there, I need to pretend to be functioning like a normal person. Huh....what's that? I'm not really fooling anyone, you say! ........oh well........ :)

Amid all the crazy happenings of the last few weeks, Dahlia managed to graduate from kindergarten. Mommy and Daddy are terribly proud of their little girl. She has come so far and all those little things I worried (worry) about just seem to work themselves out in their own time. (Feel free to remind me of this from time to time.)
Belle face!

Each kid did a self-portrait. Too much!

Dahlia seemed so pleased with herself - as she should be!
Ummm.......did I mention she made the honor roll for mathematics! Yep, she did.

Before the grad. all 4 classes put on a little show. (Got it on video, of course.) My cheeks were cramping by the end. I'm such a dork - this kid just does it to me.
They did a little hip hop number too. I was busting by then.
Love that natural joy on her face.

Dahlia, baby girl - Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!

At Last....meet MILANA !!!!!

Here she is......finally! We love her so much already!!
She's about 15 months in these pictures. And 10 kilos (about 25 lbs - oh my). She seems extremely healthy and, check it out, she has hair, yep...real hair. They say she smiles all the time and sleeps well. (Hear that sound? That's me - laughing with glee.) And wait until I get my hands on her and get her in a little dress.
I'll post more details later - I just want to share this right now.
BTW - when Dahlia saw her picture - her response - "cool". Yeah, Dahlia's getting a cool little sister.
We're so happy - we're off to celebrate - just wanted to fire this off first.
btw - if you're having trouble making a comment (operation aborted) just click the back key and it should refresh - if not, you can e-mail me.

TODAY!!!!!!!!!

.......is the day we will see Milana's face.
We will be at our agency's door at 3 PM today. Depending on traffic and my state of ecstasy - I will post as soon as I get back.
Fa la la la laaa la la la la.

At Last...Milana's coming home!!!!!!!

We got the call!! Our referral is in.
Milana IS coming home!!!
Our sweet, new daughter is 19 months old (born Nov 18, 2007).
Her Chinese name is Wu Shi Yun
She is waiting for us in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China.
We are over the moon happy!!!!
Dahlia, Daddy and I were all together and we videotaped the moment.
(Picture and file will only come next week.)
Check back later* for details and more happiness.
.......did I mention how happy we are?
Update: Thank you! First of all, thank you to the Lord my God, for blessing us with another daughter - there is no bigger gift than this.
And thank you to this amazing community of kindred spirits who support each other and lift each other up. To those who have left comments, most whom I've never met but feel I know, and for those who have e-mailed or called me - I'm honored by your expressions of happiness for us.
What a wild ride. Thanks for joining in.
Stay tuned......more to come.
* later could be as late as this Friday (June 26th). We are in a big group and tomorrow is a holiday here and everything has to be verified and translated for the whole group before we see pictures. So, stay tuned.........

At Last... Milana is almost here!

Referrals have arrived in Europe - and they're on their way here.
Just waiting for that phone to rinnnnnnnnnnngggggggg !!!!!!!
......and I can't wipe this silly grin off my face.

Fashion Friday

It was "party time" last Sunday. We were invited to a very special baptism and Dahlia was so excited to pick out her outfit. She just LOVES dresses, and the frillier the better (which is a bit odd because she use to be more of a jock but she sure has changed - girly all the way!). She just loved how this whole thing looked and stood there waiting for me to grab my camera.........so, gee....I obliged. Thought I would try a neutral backdrop so I hung a wrinkled sheet.

(click to enlarge - for even more cuteness!)

Now, this (below) is what I had wanted her to wear, so I talked her into trying it on but she nixed it. I was hoping to get one more wear out of it as it's a size 4 but she wanted the other.
(I only fight the big battles.)

Good of her to indulge me with a little pose.

We took it outside and even though this shot was taken in the deep shade (I mega lightened it in editing) I love how I caught her as she whipped around. She's a pro!

So that's my girlie for this week. Check out the Salsa site for lots more fun with the twinados!

And check back here soon - we are hours/days away from receiving our referral for Milana........at last !

Update: Referrals have been received in Europe - they're on their way here!

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
