Do you like "firsts"?

I remember when Dahlia first got on a horses back....how frightened, yet excited she was. Her feelings were only surpassed by....mine. "My baby is so high....what if she falls off....what if the horse kicks me as I walk beside it...just in case she does fall and I have to catch her...." .

Well, it was Milana's turn this time......and she showed no fear.


And you know what? Neither did I!!!

And......she LOVED it!

Ok...so,the horses were really ponies and they were tethered but nonetheless...I still felt a little pride that my "baby" has so much confidence.

I'm happy to say both my girls have some of the same mindset as I do. "Feel the fear....but do it anyway!" 

That's what's happening in my little corner of the world.

Sunday Snapshot

I'm slinking back into my blog today.....hoping nobody noticed I've been MIA for a month!

So....no body noticed....right? Thanks.

It's a gorgeous long week-end here and the weather is perfect. Well....actually it's bleeping hot, but we'll take it!

So....that calls for a visit to our favorite park. 


And I thought I'd share a few snaps here and then try ahem, promise to be back on Tuesday to post some cute pictures of the kiddos riding some ponies. (See.....I've cornered myself in so now I have to come through. What am I? Five years old? That was redundant....thank you!)

My camera is Nikon D300. I only used my 28-75mm 2.8 and ISO was 200. A quick run through Lightroom and voila. Done!

No, really!

Tuesdays......Around the World!

This has to be one of my favorite captures of Milana - taken recently at a beautiful atrium area in our shopping center.

My friend Helen and I dressed up our girls in Easter fancies and took to the mall. We've done this many times since we've both gotten our girls. (Two each.)

And I'll likely post more from that day but I need to finish up so much editing and work....and then maybe even catch some sleep.

Meanwhile, enjoy a little trip around the world today!

Favorite Photo Friday

Easter 2012

Every year - anything else other than chocolate and Easter eggs takes second stage around here. Dahlia especially cannot get enough of that dark brown heavenly stuff.

We have our annual Easter egg decorating party at our best buddie's house and proudly display our artistic endeavors.

And Dahlia still runs in and jumps on our bed in the morning, screeching "the Easter bunny came, the Easter bunny came!!" (She clearly peeked downstairs to garner that information.)

And then she and her side-kick sister leap around the house, gathering all the chocolate treats the 'Easter bunny' sleepily hid the night before.

Amazingly, she still isn't on to me. And I'm in no hurry to end this illusion. So much more fun like this.

Milana clearly does not have the speed that her older sister has but I watched with a fair bit of pride as Dahlia shared some her abundant booty with her.

And if you only knew just how much that girl LOVVVVES her chocolate the significance of that gesture would blow you away!

However.....I said all that to say this. For the first time, Dahlia really wanted to hear the real story of Easter....not the eggs and the chocolate but "why did they kill Jesus on the the cross?" and "where did he really go?' and "what is passover again?".

Good questions - questions that make Mommy think, in simple terms, what our faith really means.....what we really do believe in....and why!

Tuesdays......Around the World!

The other day, I caught Dahlia in a very impromptu moment dancing away in our family room. Her CD player was playing the beautiful music from Swan Lake as she flitted around the floor.

Dahlia has been taking ballet lessons for 6 years now and I think she enjoys the time spent there with her BFF, Angel more than she does the dancing.

But every so often she becomes inspired and will perform little recitals for us as we scramble for the camera and video camera.

She is even teaching little Milana some steps and we may just be able to coax her into starting dance in September this year. Last year met with wails and cling-on behavior so we opted to wait the year out. But Milana now wants to copy everything big sis is doing so dance we all will.

Next time I'll try and capture both girls twirling about. Funny how I can still just stare at them for hours. I suppose that may never end.

Nice way to spend the time!
