Black and White Wednesday - "Two Chinese Princesses"

July 13, 2010 150-4 copyb&w

And....they're mine!!

How did I get so lucky?

July 13, 2010 150-4

For Lisa's Black and White Wednesday, I thought I'd mess around with some Gaussian Blur in Photoshop. And wow, I had fun. My paint brushes may get a little jealous.

the long road

July 13, 2010 149-2 copy

These shots were taken at a recent birthday party and I snapped them quickly (very) with the only background I could find where no one was standing or playing. Dahlia and Milana were surrounded by a chain link fence and the cement of an elevated patio. Not an ideal background so Lisa's workshop instructions came in very handy.

I still have oodles to learn but some of it is slowly sinking in.

Happy Wednesday gentle readers!

What an incredible effect ~ the blur gives them the illusion of floating or a slight heavenly cast!! I am loving what you are doing!

AND since they ARE angels, through & through, I think that's just right!!!!

XOXO

The girls are beautiful! I love their dresses too!

Your summer in review for I heart faces is excellent! You must have put a lot of work into your collages - they are so beautiful.

Love these photos Wanda. I tried commenting last night, but blogger was not cooperating. I think we're on the same page with photography these days. I can't wait to get my hands on some new PS knowledge. I have such mixed feelings about using the software. I don't want to go overboard and not recognize what the original was meant to look like. I love the fact you made these pictures look more appealing by blurring out the not so good looking background. I might need to try this with some of my mishaps.

Have a wonderful day my friend!

Hugs,
Grace

The editing on these pictures is beautiful! Your girls are both beautiful and so are photos. I hope you are having a great week!

Pretty soon, you'll be able to extract them and place them in any scene you wish: on a surfboard, riding a camel, standing in front of the pyramids! The possibilities are endless! You may never pick up a paintbrush again (but that would be a real shame)

:)

Wanda, I just caught up with all your recent posts (you put me to shame) I love all the pictures from your summer, to flowers, to the wonderful art you are creating with your newly polished skills.

The pictures of Dahlia's school days really emphasize how fast the time goes and what a truly short time they stay with us before they are on their own.

Beauty is everywhere on your blog.

Wanda I had a tough time commenting and adding links to my post. It took a couple of hours and then I had to walk away and spend time with my daughter. She is still sick, but now she has a very bad cold in her chest, which she did not have during the two weeks of stomach sickness. Now she has a fever. The poor thing is run daown from it I guess. I just want her to feel beyyet already. Have a great day my friend!

You are so funny...paintbrushes getting jealous...i can just see it. You're so creative, you put me to shame but I sure do love what you come up with! I would have never guessed that background was anything but pristine!

What gorgeous princesses they are, indeed!

I miss you.

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
