Black and White Wednesday - "Bethlehem, PA, Photo Workshop"

BethlehemWorkshop#2 129-2 copy
If I had to choose just one word to describe our Bethlehem, PA Photo Workshop with 16 amazing bloggers, led by the incomparable Lisa from The Long Road to China - it would be....

.....WOW!!!!

What a week-end!

(I'm in the throws of editing some of the over 700 RAW shots I took and will post more in a while. Meanwhile - check out some of the other entries here and get ready to be blown away.)

This was the defining moment for me. We shot the whole day in manuel after 2 hours of instruction. There are a lot of things to consider with each shot and my first attempt at this beautiful blue sky came out completely blown out. White....pure white. But Lisa was standing beside me and showed me her version of the sky and it was blue. My shutter speed was at about 1/160 of a second (too slow) so there was way too much light...thus...blown-out. Lisa said "try 1/3200" which I did and this is the result. Quelle difference!!!!

That was my biggest a-ha moment. ( I heart Lisa.)

I'm hooked, smitten and want to sleep with my camera now. And I'm doing some pretty heavy flirting with Photoshop too. (Lightroom and I have been tight for months now.)

Thanks Lisa, Marla, Darling Dita and all you amazing gals who made this week-end such a blast!

Can't wait for Part 2!

I have to admit... I bumped a few of Lisa's links to get to yours this morning. ;-)

These photos look amazing! I'm so happy you were able to attend and had that "a-ha" moment. I still have them on a daily basis with my camera. From the look of these, you will need to have a serious talk with your hubby to tell him about your new love... :-)

Maybe next time we will finally get to meet!

Hugs...
Grace

Wanda, you are the sweetest most beautiful girl. Really. Just pure loveliness! Now, of course I knew that from the moment I first visited this blog, but meeting you in person I was able to see it even more clearly.

You did a wonderful job and you learned so much. You are outstanding. Wishing you all the best as you go about your photography journey.

Love. Love. LOVE you : )

wanda, so good to meet you on Sunday. I love your shots...but, the Moravian Church is my favorite! it is a cornerstone of our little town, and the second you get to Main Street, its the first thing you see. I absolutely love the angle, the colors, everything!

Oh...your photos are amazing!!! Soooo happy you had a wonderful time! I am learning that a good camera means nothing if you don't know how to program it. It's crazy how a simple setting can change the sky to blue! :)

I look forward to more gorgeous photography!!!

Love and blessings,
Robin

These are wonderful pics, Wanda! I esp. love the one of the first little girl (directly after the sky picture); there's something about the angle and the girl's expression that caught my eye. :)

And hey, you got to meet Becky at the workshop. :) I heart Becky, even though we've never met. Isn't she one of the nicest people ever?

You are so talented! Beautiful photos (notice I didn't say "snapshots" ;-).

Nice to see your beautiful daughters. Milana is growing up so fast! Wasn't it just last week you brought her home?

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Someday, I would love to make it to your area and visit!

Wanda, I've been catching up. The girls are stunning and lovely to look at (just like their mama).

I'm so glad to see your pictures from the workshop, amazing stuff. I wish I wasn't so camera depleted.

I also love the beautiful painted boxes you made, amazing!!!!!

I love the city trimmed your trees for you - don't you love it when you don't have to fight city hall?

Keep the pictures coming.

Love Valerie

These are really fantastic...but I must say, they make me a little sad..sad that we aren't there still and propped up on our beds chattin' sleepover style!

Miss you lots,
Dita Darling

Wanda,
Can't believe you were in Bethlehem. My in-laws live in Allentown. Wish I'd known, haven't been keeping up with blogs or blogging lately.

You just missed MusicFest, although i am sure you saw signs for it.

Recently, I took some photos of my daughter, and noticed more than a slight resemblance to Dahlia, maybe just an expression or a certain sideways glance, but I definitely noticed it. will have to find those photos.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to PA!

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
