Black and White Wednesday

SundayShoot,recipe,more fairies 230
A couple of weeks ago, the sun was finally shining enough in the livingroom window so I whipped out my camera, a little dress-up dress and a compliant Dahlia (ok....there may have been some chocolate involved) and snapped a few pics.
I thought they would convert well to black and white for Lisa's Wednesday exercise and I like the way they turned out. Of course, I have about 200 from that shoot (yeah....I'm a little crazy) but I just chose two.

And so as not to break with tradition - here are 2 snaps from our China trip last August. We happened upon a little sidewalk sales stall, selling these sweet little parasols. I didn't end up buying any there as I waited till Beijing to spend all my money (!#$??!) but they were so cute all lined up like that. I feel kind of quilty not buying any from the little stand but only taking a picture. (My bad.)

And this is an upwards shot of our hotel in Hangzhou. These tiered parasols were bright red but look kind of cool in black and white too. ( I remember thinking that if my foyer was large enough (haha) this would really look great.)

That's all for today. I'm hitting the hay early 'cause tomorrow I'm packing up the library (soon to be our family room).
Yah, groan, puff, yah!!

Hola Chica!!!
Love the photo of Dahlia!!!
BTW, I feel like I KNOW you!
Where in Canada do you live?
My family is in New England and my maternal grandmother was from Nova Scotia.

You have inspired me to go for the China theme net week for B+W Wednesday.

Stay warm up there!!!!

I don't know what the other 200 looked like but these two are beautiful. I love that you captured Dahlia's reflection in the table. She is quite the little model...exactly what type fo chocolate did you use for this? I must take notes!

Her hair is so lovely in the second shot...I love the cut you can see the gorgeous texture against that alabaster skin of hers.

China...you make me want to go there with all these amazing images. I would need a steamer trunk to come home though with all the finds there!

Good luck with the library tomorrow...can't wait to hear how it goes!

I just love your first picture with Dahlia's reflection in the table. It's truly a perfect pic to have blown up and framed. I am also inspired by you to go through my China pics and pick one or two for next week. I have a few in mind that I know will look spectacular in B&W!

Beautiful photos. I especially like the second one with Dahlia's profile. It's really precious. And that parasol stand...I've been looking for a parasol for spring photos for awhile and I cannot find any. This makes me a bit envious :)

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
