Black and White Wednesday "Farewell to Summer"

Sunday family picnic 042 wm-2

This feels like it was the shortest summer of my life.
Not that we travelled all that much - a few little trips, but no biggies. But I blinked and it's almost over.

Today, school begins again. Another year gone and Dahlia enters grade 3!!!
So to celebrate (or should I say - commemorate) the end of summer I'm posting some shots from a little trip to our local park (that I adore) for a little Sunday picnic.

I had thought the summer would be fairly easy going for my photography business but it turned into a whirlwind. Not that I'm complaining - I just wasn't quite prepared to be so busy, so fast.
I had wanted to organize my office and re-do my studio (that the kiddos had slowly been encrouching into) and what should have taken a week or two took all summer.

But, it's done and I love it and can't wait to start the engines in September. I can easily work throughout the year now - plenty of light (and lights)!
I'll post some pics soon of my studio as I'm getting ready for my Facebook give-away that I promised last June. Next week.....be on the look-out.

I can hardly believe we live just a few miles from this beautiful nature park. It's a perfect location for photoshoots.

The kids wanted to get a closer look at the bride.

This summer we marked two years since Milana has been home. What a happy, sweet little girl she has become.

We had a little friend visit our house a few days ago for a playdate. Miss L - what a cutie-pie. We intended to go to the park but it was wayyyyy too hot. So, we stayed home and had fruit pops and played with play-dough. And I ran for my camera, of course.

Why yes...that IS a Justin Beiber puzzle box in the back. Dahlia and I are putting it together. It may even find it's way to the back of Dahlia's bedroom door.

Anyone notice this guitar only has 4 strings? And it's not a bass. Still made some sweet noise though.

I ♥ Faces "Beautiful Eyes"

PhSho Murielle Edwards 144 wm

This beautiful young lady was so easy to shoot. Her grandmother treated her to a photoshoot with me and it was just 2 hours of pure fun.

Her beautiful eyes popped into my head first when I learnt that this week's photo challenge was "beautiful eyes".

So pour yourself a cup of coffee and visit all the entries at http://www.iheartfaces.com.

......and have a wonderful week.

Black and White Wednesday

PhSho FamilyT version 2-031(&55) 8x10-2 wm

I should really be posting this gorgeous family on my photoblog, along with about 15 other shoots I've done recently and haven't had the time to post - but I thought I'd show them off here since......they're a family.
And such a delightful family to shoot.

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
