It's been a long time since I've entered any picture on one of my favorite blogs. Though I've been silent - I have learned so much from this site. Some amazing photographers from all levels share their gifts and secrets and I really want to thank them for sharing so generously.
So, when I read that their theme this month was Black and White - well........how could I resist!

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!)
We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home.
This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!

I also love these in black and white. Tell me... is it even possible to say no to those eyes? Both of them really, but Milana has such soulful eyes!
Such gorgeous girls. Love the camera settings, it helps me learn more when I can see and experiment with what everyone else is doing. Hopefully someday we will have better then dial up and I can go to all these great blogs and get even more tips.

Wow, Wanda!!! These are gorgeous!!! Your girls are so darling, and the b/w conversions are great. I love the rich black in contrast with the creamy white skin tones. Great job!!
Beautiful girls and I love the pictures! I have a D3000 and am going to try your setting some time. I wish I knew more about my camera and had time to experiment with the features. Thanks for writing on our blog! I've been out of touch for so long.

These are absolutely awesome!! Although I'd love to see them in color, I really like how the focal point of the photo is definitely their eyes in the black and white version. What did you use to convert them?

After my edits in Lightroom and Photoshop I converted to black and white and usually I bump up the exposure and the blacks and maybe even the highlights. That's it.
