TODAY! .....baby steps to Christmas.

Christmas'10 first decor 027

It used to be that I could wave my magic wand and our house would be transformed into Christmas mode - just like that!

Well.....it seems I've lost my wand (Or is it my mo-jo that's been misplaced?)

Now, it seems to take me from the beginning of December to....well....just about Christmas eve to pull it all together.

So, I thought, instead of throwing all our Christmas decor and preps into one post (which may only appear on....like I said....Christmas eve) I would show it all in stages - just like it unfolds. Every Tuesday for the "Today Around the World" posts.

(The above shot is only about one sixth of the boxes we dragged upstairs. My lenses aren't wide enough to capture it all. Besides - I have a deposit like this in every room. God help me!!)

And when you're putting a house together for Christmas - there has to be a mess....right?

Thank you.

Dahlia and I found these groovy graphics that we've started to paint in to make our own hanging bulbs for the loft. We've done these sort of projects since she was about three years old. We work silently, side by side and only share what we've done when we're finished. Mine is the left - Dahlia's is the right.

(Disclaimer - I know they're not black and white - nor are they silver. Color is permitted in the loft - just so you know.) ;-)

Isn't this a sweet little white Grand?

It's actually very tiny. Plays about 10 different Christmas tunes and the little snowmen twirl around (something magnet in them makes them twirl) on top.

Just a little peek at a few of my fav things that came out of the boxes first.
Next week there'll be more.

That's my little corner of the world.

Your Christmas decor is stunning...and Wanda I'm still decorating too. It takes me forever!

I'm a lover of silver so the first image is all 'me.' :)

And happy color is allowed in the loft. Miss Dahlia is quite talented I may say...just like her mamma!!! :)

OH OH OH...........Wanda, LOVE this! Can't wait for more!!!

Like you, I gravitate more towards the less traditional colors of Christmas ( cream, pastels, silver) and I'm tickled to see your own unique flair and take on it all!

Does this make us rebels???? Maybe just a wee bit?? Oh, please say yes....I've never been one (a rebel that is) and it seems.....exhilarating!!!! Dangerous,in a non-dangerous way! LOL

AND don't you love that kitty cat gets worn out just watching others working hard???!!!! Gracious even kitty is gorgeous!!!!

XOXO

Wanda! This is so much fabulousness! I can't stand it. I love the project you are working on with Dahlia. Beautiful. I can't believe you do every room in your house. This just cements the fact that you are the best mom in the universe. Love, becky who hasn't done one thing yet : (

Goodness, you go all out, don't you? :)

I love the colors that Dahlia picked! Tell her they're very pretty. Not to say yours isn't. Ahem. :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in your neck of the woods! I hear you on losing the mojo (though I can't see evidence of it in these photos!). I decided to not go all out and bring out all my holiday decor. We have the tree and a few little trinkets, but that's it. I don't think I can handle any more this year :o/

Very lovely! I spent 5 full days on decorating the house. It takes longer every year, I agree. Baby steps are good.

Your home is gorgeous Wanda! I must admit it only takes me a day to decorate our home. I call it cozy, yet understated... I love the decor but once xmas is over, I must put everything away within a day or two. I'm quite a neat freak. ;-)

Can't wait to see the next installment!

Hugs,
Grace

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
