Friday's finds

It's Friday again. Snowing enough for ya? (Sorry, that was a bit cruel - we didn't get a flake
up here on the North Pole.)

It's also time for Colleen's Friday's finds. Check out her site for more interesting things.

I am on the mailing list of this organization. I often find timely and really sage advice and wanted to share an e-mail and link that may come in handy considering all the snow that got dumped all along the Eastern Seaboard. There is a link (below) with some really cool stuff to do with the kiddos during "snow days". Oh joy!

Raising Small Souls : Parenting Emotionally Healthy Children

I hope this email finds you well and staying warm! We are buried under more than 2 feet of snow here in Baltimore, and more snow is falling! Our streets (we live on a corner) have not been plowed, so we parked our car a block away... what an adventure! I'm very grateful that we have electricity, and my heart goes out to all those who do not.

It looks like school will be closed for this entire week! In order to get my kids to take a break from endless video games, I pulled up this Craft book which I recently bought, and have permission to share with you at no charge!

We did some painted shells, instead of painted rocks, (page 9) with our massive shell collection!

Looking forward to Spring!

Ellen

P.S. Have you had a chance to check out my article about helping kids study effectively and get amazing grades in school?

All children learn and process information differently, yet schools test the same way.

And because I hate to disappoint (all you fairy lovin' people out there)
here is a sweet little book of photographs of fairy dwellings.
.....that we can make for our little fairy friends.
It's loaded with sweet little ideas and is perfect to get the kids involved.

And that's all I've got this week!

Ask me why.

Well.......we are starting our kitchen/family room reno!!!

Oh, yes we are!

We are about to rip out walls, add some stairs, move a powder room, tear up a massive amount of carpeting, put down heated tiles (24 sq. in porcelain beauties in....black with a white vein.....surprised?) so I'm busy picking granite countertops, faucets, moldings, hardware, cabinets, sinks, lights and I am just soooooooo excited.

I think Danny may have lost his mind but I'm going to forge ahead and hope he doesn't find it till we're finished!!
:)
Happy Friday, my friends!

Love all your fairy finds, keep them coming please. My daughter Grace(age 7) just checked out a fairy book from the library(it was one you previously showed) and she ADORES it. I might have to find one to buy for her.

And I love to hear about renovations, can't wait to see what you pick out and hear more about the details. I'm sure you'll do before and after pics! ;)

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Can't wait to see your pics (MUST SHARE!) of your renovations. We did our kitchen 3 yrs ago. It was quite a scene around here. I'm not a big fan of dust and chaos. I must admit the end result is so worth the craziness.

Even though we don't get all the snow down here, the craft information will definitely come in handy. Our summers are very long and hot... I'm sure we'll enjoy some of these crafts while hibernating in the cool confines of our home. ;-)

Happy Valentines & CNY Day to you!

wow, as someone who has just dabbled in reno on an admittedly very small scale, I'm in awe. Good luck. Hope everything goes smoothely.

kind regards from Miami,

Carol and Taylor

Hi Wanda. I bet you are super excited about the project. I know I would be, but living in it while it is happening would bother me. Picking out all everything is fun. Hope you have a grand time. Can't wait to see before and afters! Black and white?....nooooo I never would have guessed! ;)

The most important part of the reno will be to make sure your bar is filled with liquo and to contact your Dr. for an Rx for some sort of relaxation drug for all who dare to live in the home during a renovation.

I can't wait to see the end results.

Congratulations.

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
