Favorite Photo Friday

Her Majesty and her little Royal Highness.......
Ballet Halloween 2012 006 wm blog
...are looking a tad bored.

Could it be that dressing up, pretending and preparing to collect wicked amounts of candy and treats for Halloween is getting......

...oh....I hardly say it (insert top of hand to forehead with eyes drawn upward)

old, tired, passe.

No, it couldn't be, could it?

Or maybe it's one too many "ok...hold it, just one more......click".

Do you suppose?
the long road
Well.....I'm happy to announce that once the sugar high kicked in.....
......all was well with the world again!

Whew, good thing. Otherwise I'd be left to play all by myself.

(Be back in a few days for more dress-up.)

Tuesday - Around the world

Halloween ballet '11 089 wm

Halloween!!
The countdown began weeks ago. The excitement grew with each passing day. Candy definately takes center stage with my two girlies, but dress-up comes a close second.

(I'll post Monday nights Halloween pictures on Friday for Favorite Photo Friday but meanwhile Dahlia's ballet class last Friday had a little show they put on for the parents at the end of the class.)

It always amazes me that no two girls have the same costume. It's always like that.

Dahlia has been taking ballet since she was 3 years old. And always with her bff - Angel. They really could live in each others pockets

They've been together since almost birth. Inseparable.

(Forgive the shadows. I'm just too tired to remove them.)

Not to be left out - Milana wanted a little dance time of her own before we left the house. And had to dress up in something Chinese. This sweet little outfit is one I bought at the Silk Factory in Beijing and she has never worn it. (My bad!) It still fits but the style is a tad babyish.
Milana didn't mind!!

So the little dance was over and the girls were taking their bows.

And were rewarded with chocolate....of course. (It's Halloween....but any excuse will do.)

Dahlia's cheeks are full and there's a little evidence still on her lower lip.
(Be back on Friday for more dress-up fun.)

Link up below and/or visit some other spots around the world.

(Hands up whoever is still on a sugar-high from last night! Do you let the kids eat as much as they want in hopes they will get sick of it?

I've tried that but mine just don't seem to ever grow tired of the sugar-fest.)

Happy Tuesday!

Favorite Photo Friday

REMAX #1b & & 329 wm
I've been so busy lately I completely forgot I had taken these (and a few thousand hundred) pictures a few week ago. (In fact I probably have enough to fill every Friday for a year but I won't do that.
ok.....so who said "whew"?
REMAX #1b & & 347 wm
I'm so glad Dahlia is still so obliging when I'm whipping my camera out. In fact, it's often her idea. And, I've stuck gold TWICE 'cause Milana is pushing her out of the way to get in the shot most times.
Not that there is a lot of "ham" around our house.
Ahem.

This kid really should try out for Circle du Soleil.

TODAY!!!!!!!!! Can't get enough of that PINK!

2010,Oct 23. Dress-up (Dahlia&Milana) 068 - Copy

Please excuse the gratuitous cuteness

but I needed to post more and I appreciate your indulging me!

(I'll pay ya back.)

(No really, post all the cuteness you want and I'll lap it up.
I'm a cute-aholic. Most days I'm drunk on cute!)

2010,Oct 23. Dress-up (Dahlia&Milana) 132

So, as I was flitting around, trying to capture all this cuteness, I stopped for a minute, put my camera down (yeah....my camera with my prime lens and my speedlight attached on top) gently on the stair while I moved a table and when I turned back, said camera (with the prime lens and the v.e.r.y. heavy speedlight attached) was being waved wildly in the air. By MILANA !!!!

That was sort of the sound that bolted forth from me (with zero self-control on my part). Sounded something like

MIIILLLAAAAAAANNNNAAA !!!!!!!!

and even though I instantly regretted my knee-jerk reaction...

she

didn't

drop

it!

She just froze.

(Oh, did I mention she was standing on a marble floor.

Yeah!)

Ok, back to more cuteness (and pinkness).

Black and White Wednesday - "Two Chinese Princesses"

July 13, 2010 150-4 copyb&w

And....they're mine!!

How did I get so lucky?

July 13, 2010 150-4

For Lisa's Black and White Wednesday, I thought I'd mess around with some Gaussian Blur in Photoshop. And wow, I had fun. My paint brushes may get a little jealous.

July 13, 2010 149-2 copy

These shots were taken at a recent birthday party and I snapped them quickly (very) with the only background I could find where no one was standing or playing. Dahlia and Milana were surrounded by a chain link fence and the cement of an elevated patio. Not an ideal background so Lisa's workshop instructions came in very handy.

I still have oodles to learn but some of it is slowly sinking in.

Happy Wednesday gentle readers!

Had enough of Halloween yet?

Yes?
Awww......too bad....'cause I have yet more pictures to share.
Our "princess in training".

Belle face!
(please excuse me....I can't help it.)

Dahlia has been taking ballet since she was 3 and every Halloween they have a little dress-up show at the end of the lesson where we drooling, overly excited parents are allowed into the hallowed ground practice hall where our little giggling darlings strut their stuff.

Here (below), Dahlia is with her BF - Angel - who has taken lessons with her since the beginning.

Proud? Who....us?

(click on any picture to enlarge)

At the end of the little show, Milana was let loose and ran to her sister's arms. My heart just melts with these pictures.

...I gotcha, sissy.

Their ballet teacher gave out treats. Oh boy!

Sweaty, satisfied and happy - my little ballet princess whips off her tiara. She's done!

Let's go home, Mom.

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
