We laugh at the cold. Ha ha ha...........
......we look 'ole man winter' in the face and say - "you can't get us down.....'cause in the end, you'll just be a puddle of water and we....we'll be basking in the sun"
......yup....any month now!
In our attempt to embrace the inevitable, we ventured up north last week-end to the mountains where most folks go to ski - we go to eat. Yummy crepes smothered in good old pure maple syrup. The really dark kind. After our gorge-out we took a wee walk (it was bloody cold) in the little town. (St.Sauveur)
Danny spent a lot of his youth near here. He use to attend this church.
We had three goals for our day. One was the crepes - done! The other was visiting the little Christmas shop that is deliriously filled with every imaginable Christmas decor. Dahlia loves this shop and we have spent hours browsing (and sometimes splurging after we sent Daddy out to get the car...."quick, let's get this....we've got one minute, is your bag big enough to stuff it in?") but, alas, it was closed. 'Be back - Jan 30th' the sign said.
So we wandered down the street to our next destination - the ice-cream shop. Dahlia must have her ice-cream, Mommy needs no encouragement and I was imagining a tiny little cone for Milana - her first. Uh-ugh..........closed for the winter. "What.....pugh....wimps!"
So we drove around and went home.
And ate ice-cream!
mwa ha ha ha
And so, before I go, I thought I would remind myself of something that is buried deep in the frozen, snow-covered ground in my garden....waiting
just waiting
for it's time to come!
It's just my way of laughing at the cold.

Wanda, your girls' threads are always so stylish and fashionable! :)
What great pictures and what a gorgeous little town! Where was that? The Christmas shop looked really neat. So sorry it was closed, but It sounds like you guys had a great time anyway! Have a wonderful Friday!
Such beautiful pictures! I must say they really make me thankful I lives in the south. Now I'm feeling embarrassed to have been complaining about the measly cold weather we've had in the past few days. How in the world do you get out of bed in the morning? I think if I lived with all that snow, I would be a bear and hibernate until spring!
It looks stunning!
What a beautiful little town! And of course, your girls look adorable in their black, white and leopard. Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!
I know where this is! I used to live there! We lived in a condo at the top of the ski hill. Steph's parents used to own a ski-shop on the street that begins on the corner where the ice-cream store is. My favourite boutique is La petite ecole which is on main but on the other side of the church.
Great photos! Love that Christmas store - do they still have the upside-down trees?
Beautiful! But I must say I don't know how you do it :) (although I lived most of my life in Michigan) still it's been in the 20's here and we are all walking around shivering - and this is when we are inside - and wrapped in blankets! But today it will be back up to 60 - I'm not rubbing it in, I am inviting - any time you want to come warm up you are more than welcome here :)
DawnS.....I'm on my way to the airport now (in my dreams). Thx for the invite. One day!
Julie, yes they have many upside down trees. Stunning - even peeking through the window.
Tracey, It's St-Sauveur - up in the Laurentian mountains. Only 40 minutes from here.
To y'all who are wondering how we do it...living at the north pole. Read my post again. ICE-CREAM! Lots of it!
;)
Beautiful images, as always Wanda. I adore that little town...well you still did get ice cream!
Have great weekend!
I'm sad that your intended stops were closed for a time....that's just no fun! But I LOVE that you made the very best of it all....crepes...mmmmm.....AND captured some gorgeous moments too! Those coats are beautiful enough I'd say to issue in some relief your way from old man winter!
We have actually had a thaw here, so maybe I can shoo some your way ~ we don't have to be greedy afterall! :)
And you know what? I like that you laugh in the face of the cold....we do that here too! Sometimes it chuckles right back.....but we pretend not to hear it! ha!
Your garden made me think of our recent emails....which I think I dropped the ball on....sigh....somedays sure get away from me!
Happy weekend!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
Seriously, your girls are beyond adorable! That first pic is definitely one to frame! The look of pure glee on their faces is priceless.
Ummmm, you are making me crave a getaway! Such a beautiful place to visit! Maybe I will send Kev this post of yours and hope he catches the day out spirit!!!! :))))
They are just darling!! They looks so happy to be all bundled up and outside:)
Crepes with Maple Syrup sound so heavenly....YUMMM!! What a quaint looking little town..... what a disappointment about the Ice Cream, but is sounds like Plan B worked just as well!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Lisa
Did you say CREPES with Dark Maple Syrup? Wanda, I am booking my ticket....we can sit and sip Bailey's and Coffee and watch the kids play in the snow......how's that sound?
What a great little town....looks like you and the little black and white matching duo (as always...girls after my own heart) had a great time!

Dita
Oh my....those coats on the girls are DARLING! Looks like a fabulous time away.....and we try to laugh at the cold too....we are such a warm weather kind of family too! ;)
