Christmas decor....as promised!

So, I'm finally taking a moment (ha) to put some pictures together and share a little Christmas "chez nous" with you.
This is a few weeks ago, during our first snowfall - which is always the best.

Come on in!

Just some treasured (to me) ornaments I've collected through the years. The glass icicles below were from my twin sister Wendy. She was so thrilled to have found them at an estate sale in Westchester (when she lives in NYC) and knew I would love them. I treasure them today.

Of course, this is my real treasure!.......

....par deux!

I could tell you how long I have had these bulbs....
....but I'd have to kill you!
(kidding)

There's our main tree....in the library. (Really where we spend most of our time.)

In past years I've put an angel on the top of the tree. And every year I've thought it was just too big. So this year I just stuck some silver branches to make a spray. I like it better.

So far, nothings been broken. Touched plenty but not more. My beloved neice, her hubbie and 21 month old son are arriving for Christmas this week and will be staying with us. That record may change by holiday's end!
:)

Dahlia's little tree.

I came down the stairs one morning to find Zizi sitting there (begging for me to run for my camera - which is precisely what I did). And she sat and posed for me for about 5 minutes. Literally posed.
Did I mention she's a cat?

I put 2 smaller trees in the 2 front windows this year. Other than those and the front door garland and 2 pots with lit arrangements - that was it for the outside. Most everything had to be done while the wee one naps.

And our village. It's from the Ashton Drake Gallery. I started collecting the pieces when we signed our first adoption papers for Dahlia. Each piece is really a work of art - the detail is fantastic. Really, I can't capture it all in a photo.
I could live in that village.

Train station. Don't you want to sit on those benches and take it all in?
The church with a little choir boy.
This was the first piece I bought. It's an Angel Flight School. Look what the sign says -
"Don't Forget: Flap Your Wings".

The Post Office.

Hope you enjoyed your little visit. Next time we'll break open the eggnog and truffles.....'k?

I'll be posting our Christmas card later this week.

Merry Christmas everyone!

OH OH OHHHHHHHH.....it may be chilly, but your house is warm & welcoming....and stunning! Oh, can I add elegant too? I could keep going ya know! :)

What caught my eye right away visually was that the outside photos of your lovely home look just as idylic as your village...snow covered stoops, mega watt charm and all! I almost half believe it snowed simply to help accentuate your decor! :) giggle...of course I DO realize you live in Canada, hence snow! lol But still......

And then the darling girls, matched to a tee ~ what a magical time awaits you all with company coming! Wishing you all the very best...now & always!

Hugs!

Oh? Did you mention a twin sister? Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanda...what an EXQUISITE tour! I felt like I was on an episode of HGTV touring a mythical mansion in the North Pole.

You have every single detail down. Nothing is left undone. Of COURSE everything is silver and black with just a hint of pink....even the girls dresses! Oh, how I wish I could come over and share a cup of Christmas Tea...or better a Black Russian on the Rocks with you...I'd fit right in to your decor since I only wear black. Perhaps we could shrink ourselves down and sit on those little benches and take every little detail in!

What an amazing job you've done, my friend! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the little ones won't have sticky fingers this Christmas!

HUGS to you and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Wow! Your home is magical! Sitting down with a hot cup of tea would be wonderful!

Where did you find those unicorn ornaments? Caroline is on a campaign to get a "real" unicorn. I told her when she finds one, we can keep it. :)

Teresa,

The unicorns (as well as the Christmas village) come from the Bradford Exchange - Ashton Drake Galleries. You can find them at www.collectiblestoday.com

Get ready to drool (and drop a bit of cash).

Wanda, all your decor is absolutely gorgeous! My Aunt and I are sitting here deciding which room in my house that beautiful village would work! I will go to the website and check it out! Maybe they have some Post Christmas deals! Have a wonderful day and a very Merry Christmas!

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
