We headed out today for brunch with our buddies. A couple of the young'uns were a tad hungry (read grumpy).

See these little cards/notes?
I get somewhere between 1 and 5 of these a day. So, somewhere between
1 and 5 times a day............I smile!

Sometimes they say a lot more than this. And I confess I haven't kept them all (packrat that I am). 'Cause, like, that would make about 365 to 1,825 litte notes every year.

Ummm....that's probably too many to keep.
So, I'll scan my favs and post them every once in awhile so when my Dahlia looks back on this, years from now, she can see just what a sweety she was/is.

This is our 6th Easter with Dahlia home. Each year we spend a few hours at Dahlia's BFF, Angel's house where we make our decorated eggs and this year, some sugar cookies. Dahlia can barely wait to dive into her little creations.

And here's my latest
Dahlia Quote.
Dahlia: "Mom, can I stay up another 10 minutes?"
Mom: "You can stay up another 20 minutes, sweet cakes."
Dahlia (turning her head and half to herself): "Thank you, Lord!"

Something else that makes me smile.

( Just so you know that I'm...ahem....still in charge - I try to vary my responses - just to keep 'em on their toes. Sometimes it's yes, sometimes it's no and sometimes it's right on the mark. But it's never "we'll see" 'cause we'll see really meant no when I was growing up, only you couldn't lodge a complaint because it wasn't really no.....but it was. Get it?)

And Dahlia's latest response to almost everything she hears or sees.
"Now that's not something you see everyday."
:-)

Oh yes...I'm smiling at this too.....pure loveliness and sweetness through & through!

LOVE your idea of scanning the works of art too....cuz I find myself having trouble picking & choosing too! Its just so hard when the "goodies" are so darn precious!!

AND the last pic of your darlings is simply precious and speaks volumes of their love.....

Those two little BW& Pinky Gals with their sunglasses on cracked me up. I can see two little wild teens in a few years! So ADORABLE!

I love the notes (even the notes are in pink!) and the sweet sentiments. No wonder you're always smiling! I love that you are scanning them and saving them. So will Dahlia one day. Boy does she know where HER bread is buttered!

What a sweet tradition (pun intended!)of decorating the eggs with Dahlia's BFF. Another wonderful memory for your girls.

I have a feeling that kitchen is getting awfully close to finished...I am looking forward to the unveiling.

Happy Easter, Sweetie!

How adorable! I just love the sweet cards. One of those things you will have to keep forever! :o)

I bought that same outfit for Naomi but the pants were so big on her waist that I had to take them back. Too bad because it really is an adorable set especially with the little headband!

You're right... "we'll see" always meant no. I'm blunt cuz I just say no. *grin* So glad they make you smile so much. They really are absolute cuties.

Good thing to keep some of the notes. From what I've seen from my 12-14 year old nieces you may want to drag them out during those years to remember that she really does think you are great despite all the eye rolling....

This cracked me up! I was raised on "We'll see", it almost always meant no.

It is like telling someone to "F" off in a polite way. You're pretty sure what they meant, but they didn't actually say it.

I finally just flat out told my mom one day, just say no and let me get on with my life.

Thanks for the memories, and I may have to resurrect that saying around my own home, it has it's merits.

The girls are adorable and they're working the boots!

Love Valerie

Hi, I'm Wanda. I am a happy woman, wife to Danny for...oh....lots a years and finally Mom to THE most adorable little girl from Hunan, China - Dahlia. And now we have been blessed again with another daughter, Milana, from Zhejiang, China. (The 2 best things I've ever done!) We live in the Montreal area. After a loooonnngg wait for Dahlia's little sister Milana (pronounced - Mee-lana, like banana), we finally brought her home in August 2009. Dahlia came to us in Nov 2004 (at 20 months of age)and a year later we began the application for another baby - at the time the waiting period was around 8 months. Almost 4 years later (say what!?!)we, at last, brought Milana home. This began as the story of our journey to bring Milana home and life with her big sister, Dahlia. It now continues as we live as a family of four!
God. My (growing) family. Hangin' out with my girlies. My wonderful friends (you know who you are!). To laugh (out loud and a lot!). Music. Painting. Hugs. Long chats with my buds. My garden. To read (ha...when I can!). Sunshine. Spring, Spring and more Spring. Building things. Cooking. Decorating. Parties (ahem). The internet. Life. Movies. A.I. Dancing with the stars. So you think you can dance. Travel. Umm..did I say laughing my head off. Oh Gee...everything actually!!
